The UNSW Health Data Science Datathon is organised by the Centre for Big Data Research in Health (CBDRH) from the Faculty of Medicine and Health.
The CBDRH is Australia’s first research centre dedicated to health research using large-scale electronic data spanning the biomedical, clinical, health services and public health domains.

Datathon organisers
Dr Oscar Perez-Concha
Oscar specialises in analysing and extracting meaningful information from large unstructured health datasets using artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP). He teaches and convenes three postgraduate courses on applied AI in health, as part of the Master of Health Data Science and Clinical AI programs.
Dr Mark Hanly
Mark is a Senior Lecturer and applied social statistician based at the Centre for Big Data Research in Health, UNSW Sydney. His research focuses on the analysis of large, linked administrative datasets to answer research questions related to the health and social wellbeing of populations.
